The mission of the Spencerport Area Chamber of Commerce is to support growth of business, commerce and the economic stability of the region. In addition, the Chamber provides members with a forum to meet and share ideas and services.
To accomplish this, the Chamber engages in activities that enhance the ability of member businesses to prosper and grow while fostering partnerships among business, government and other institutions serving the greater Spencerport area. This includes assisting local governments to attract new businesses, providing leadership on community issues, facilitating a mechanism for welcoming new businesses to the area, and supporting local events as vehicles for members to participate in community life.
In the Spring the Chamber contributes to the Town of Ogden Recreation Department’s Easter Egg Hunt.
The Chamber sponsors the Dennis Pelletier Youth Hall of Fame each year in May. The event recognizes students in 11th and 12th grades who have demonstrated leadership and community spirit through volunteer contributions and exceptional personal achievement or employment. Special consideration is given to those young people who have overcome a life challenge or personal tragedy. Applications are available at high school guidance and local government offices.
The Chamber also presents a $1000 scholarship to an area high school senior who has chosen to pursue a career in business through enrollment at a university, college or trade school.
Annually beginning in June, Barb Masseau, Pat Hamann and Don Lenhard facilitate the printing and delivery of over 5000 calendars to the community. Calendars are inserted in a fall issue of the Suburban News.
In July the annual golf tournament is always a successful fundraiser, with proceeds often used for beautification projects.
At Canal Days – the last full weekend in July - Chamber members are active in the Community booth promoting Chamber-, Town- and Village-themed articles for sale.
The Chamber financially supports the summer Concerts on the Canal series.
The Chamber contributed to establish the winter Christmas on the Canal holiday celebration, now sponsored by the Village of Spencerport - the first Sunday in December.
These are only a few of many accomplishments of the Chamber. Such events, along with
monthly program meetings, generate enthusiasm and money to support all these activities that enhance community life for businesses, residents and visitors.
Membership in the Chamber continues to grow.
We are proud to represent the community and encourage you
